Been wearing these excellent shoes for years! These leather shoes are handmade. The quality cannot be beat! Needed arch support and comfort; these shoes surpassed my expectations.Order your EU size as the US size seems to be different. They fit as expected with the width maybe just a tad tight for some. The tongue is not gusseted but it is padded with slot for the shoe laces to keep it in place. The shoe laces are round and and eyelets reinforced. It does add about an inch in height, which can be a pro or con depending on the person. The arch support is quite aggressive and will feel less intrusive over time as your feet will mold it with wear. If you put a shoe tree in it for a few days, the arch will flatten down quite a bit for those that do not want as much arch support. The leather is fairly thick and very high quality. Surprisingly, they shoes don't get too hot even with the thick leather. This is a very well made pair of shoes.I decided in my early thirties that if I owned nothing but khakis, good Italian dress shirts, and German orthopedic shoes, I could avoid any decisions of fashion at least into my 80's. The combination could go anywhere and be appropriate. Part of this was a moral decision to buy clothes manufactured in post-industrial countries with solid anti-sweatshop laws. It's been a financial burden, but I'd take nothing back.German orthopedic shoes fell very quickly in to only Finn Comfort shoes. They have a number of lines that are touched by fashion, are wearable like nothing else, but would seem costly at $350 to $450 a pair. "Seem costly?" you ask, And I say, only seem so. Once you know that you can take a pair of Finn Comforts that have seen years of wear, drop them in a postage paid envelope, and for about $75, ship them back to Germany where the uppers are refinished, the sole and foot-beds replaced, and they're returned, obviously with new laces, ready for a few more years, The financial hazard is that once you're hooked you need two pairs, so that you don't have to suffer while the first pair is being resurrected.I’ve worn Finns for about 30 years. I don’t treat them particularly well as they constantly get wet or get plaster on them, but they’ve still lasted me a long time. As long as you stick with they styles that have stitched on soles, they should last you 5-10 years of daily use as long as you shine them up about every week or two. After wearing these shoes indoors for about a week I realize they are not working for me and will have to return them. I am now revising my previous comments, having re-ordered this pair recently. These are top of the line walking shoes, exceptionally well made, though expensive. However, experience has proven you get what you pay for. I have two pairs I purchased many years ago which are still in excellent condition. The only added expense I have had is to purchase replacement insoles for both pairs, which in the long run, is far cheaper than purchasing a new pair. If you are looking for a well made, long lasting walking shoe that provides superior support, I highly recommend any of the models made by Finn Comfort. They say that when your feet hurt, you hurt all over. So I'm forever looking for the most comfortable shoes I can find. I bought a pair of Finn Comforts elsewhere, and found them to be so comfortable that I wanted a second pair. These are that second pair -- and they live up to the comfort levels expected, and they don't look bad either. Eventually Finn Comfort shoes will replace the Mephistos in my closet....Mephisto, world renowned for comfort has now met its superior. That Amazon had these for at least $150 under list price made having them a must. There's nothing like a good-fitting shoe for improving the spring in our step, and just about everything else about being up and about. These are the best shoes I've ever worn. Only wish is they had a goodyear welt. We'll see how long they hold up as well and if they can be re-soled as time passes. Everyone who enjoys this shoe should write Finn and let them know because my fear is that when this pair wears out the next time I look at Finn they will be made in China junk. This is a great shoe and I hope it remains so.This is my second pair of Finn Comfort. They are without a doubt THE best fitting, feeling, wearing shoes I have ever owned. This new pair felt SO good I immediately ordered a second pair in Black. Now, whatever I am wearing, I have the appropriate Finn Comfort shoes to make my outfits perfect! The suggestion to buy the next half size was perfect. I wear an 11.5 American and bought the 11D size (10.5 English?). It is a perfect fit.I am a big fan of Finn Comfort. You REALLY DO get what you pay for!Teuer aber gut. In anderen Schuhen, zB. Also Vorsicht beim abschleifen. Jedenfalls was meine gekauften Schuhe angeht.
