Rouand's sequel to Field's of Glory, this book focuses primarily on his father Joseph. Just like the 1st book the prose is smooth and flowing. The detail brings us into the life and history of his family. It's great stepping into another family, in another time, especially one that we're familiar with at least in terms of history. France during the 20th century was a wildly tumultuos place and we live it through Rouad's family.
